Gaelic4Girls Programme

Man O’War GFC is delighted to have been selected as one of only two Dublin clubs that will participate in this year’s Gaelic4Girls programme. It will be held at Man O’ War GFC clubhouse and pitches every Friday at 7pm for 12 weeks, commencing on Friday the 13th of April 2018.

Gaelic4Girls is a 12 week programme from the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and aims to increase participation in ladies football. The programme is open to girls aged between 8 and 12 years who are not currently registered with any club. It is focused on fun and participation. It introduces the girls to Gaelic football in a non-competitive environment. It is perfect for girls who are complete beginners, those who are unsure about trying out Gaelic football or those who wish to return to football and develop their skills.
The first 8 weeks are dedicated to introducing skills and games to the new G4G participants. New participants are welcome to join in throughout the programme. During the final 4 weeks, the girls are encouraged to participate with current club teams.
All the girls need to bring is a gumshield/mouthguard, comfortable sports gear, runners and a bottle of water. If you have football boots, bring them as well as your runners.
A mini-blitz will also be held with another G4G club after the 8 weeks. On completion of the programme, the girls are presented with a certificate and T-shirt for their participation and are given the opportunity to join the club.
The cost of the entire programme is only €10.
Girls from all the local areas surrounding Man O’War are encouraged to attend and learn the skills of Gaelic football. We ask that club members encourage daughters, nieces, grand-daughters, great grand daughters, god daughters, neighbours and friends to participate.
