Club Notes / Notaí Chlub na Míosa: 13th February / 13ú Feabhra 2019
The weather has been kind so far in 2019 and long may it last. Our pitches and facilities have been open and in use over the past month. This is in no small way due to the many club officers and volunteers who organised the club Clean Up on Saturday 26th January and over recent weekends.
It is useful to start the 2019 season with a “Who’s Who” from around the club and you can find this below. You can contact the club by emailing our secretary on firstname.lastname@example.org or by messaging our Club Facebook page.
Best of luck to Minor Ladies player Ailene Fanning and her Dublin Minor teammates who start their league season at home against Meath this Sunday 17th February at 2pm in St Margaret’s. #COYGIB
Club members are reminded that they can purchase tickets for Senior Dublin games in Croke Park through the club. Contact Dermot on 087 1347656 at least one week in advance of any fixture.
Executive Committee 2019
Our 2019 Executive Committee is listed below. As part of our improved club structures, the four main officers (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and PRO) will meet with the Strategic Plan team leaders every month while the full committee will meet at least once every quarter. This will be far more efficient and will allow all members and sub-committees to concentrate on their activities.

2017-2022 Strategic Plan Update
On Saturday 12th January, members of our 2017-2022 Strategic Plan teams and our Executive Committee met to set targets for 2019. Many tasks are already underway. They also calculated the level of fundraising and volunteerism we will need to deliver these targets. Our five team leaders will be looking for your help throughout the year. The team leaders will make monthly reports at Executive Committee meetings. They are:
Catherine Livesey – Club Structures & Administration
Pat Moore – Facilities Development & Maintenance
Sean Owens – Finance and Fundraising
David Sheridan – Coaching & Games Development
Anna McKeown – Communications, PR and Culture
Team Managers, Coaches and Mentors
Without team mentors, there can be no teams! Thank you to all our returning mentors and welcome to some new faces in 2019. You can find a list of all the 2019 team mentors, coaches and managers Team Contacts .
The new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) mean we must get signed consents and permissions from all members every year before we can register them to train and play. A club target is to make the annual registration process more efficient. Thank you to all our members who attended the club Registration Day on Saturday 2nd February. Thank you to the team mentors who helped to organise this and especially to Deirdre Farry who coordinated the event. The deadline for 2019 membership payments and completed and signed registration forms for players and non-playing members is 28th February 2019.
Our Senior Men’s teams hosted a Poker Classic fundraiser on Friday 18th January in the clubhouse. The poker was fun and there were lots of sandwiches too! Thanks to everyone who supported. Congratulations to our best poker faces on the night: Kevin Murphy (1st), Joe Green (2nd) and Stephen Thompson (3rd).
Thanks also to everyone who bought or sold a National Club Draw ticket. All proceeds from these €10 tickets go straight back into the club. The prizes are great and who knows, we may even have a winner from our club. Thank you to Catherine Livesey and Michelle Carney for coordinating this fundraiser.

Tuairscí agus Torthaí – Adult Teams
The Senior Men are busy preparing for their promoted rankings in AFL 3 and AFL 10. The Men’s 1st team have played two challenge matches and put in respectable performances against Division 2 teams Ballyboughal and Clontarf. Their league season throws in on Sunday 17th February away to Parnells at 10.30am. The Men’s 2nd team will get their Division 10 league off to a start at home against Starlights on the same day at 3pm.
At Minor level, we will be tracking the progress of the six Man O’War players who are fielding for Round Towers Lusk this season. Their Division 3 league starts at home in Lusk against St Maur’s on Sunday 24th February at 11am. Thanks to John Bell who is liaising with Round Towers. We are only a year or two away from fielding our own Minor Men’s team at Man O’War.
Our Division 3 and Division 8 Ladies teams are busy training in the gym and at the club. This year’s 1st Team is 100% homegrown, which is a testament to the development of Ladies football that has taken place in our club over the past 22 years. We are pleased to welcome new players onto the 2nd Team.
Tuairscí agus Torthaí – Juvenile Teams
Our Nursery section and Juvenile teams are back training.
The league grading matches are underway for our boys teams. First up were our U13s who played Lucan Sarsfields away in Division 6 on Saturday 9th February and bagged a 6-4 to 0-5 win. The U12s game was conceded by St Kevin’s Killians. This Saturday we have three matches throwing in at 3pm. Our U13 Boys take on Ballyboden St Enda’s C in Division 6 at home while our U14 Boys play St Peter’s away in Ballyboughal in Division 8. The U16s play O’Tooles in St Anne’s Park in Division 4. #hondewar #longcogaidhabú
Our U15 Girls hosted Round Towers Lusk in a well matched friendly on Saturday 9th and the War came out on top. Thanks to the U13 Girls who played on the day. The gradings for the girls leagues are due out next week and most of the leagues will get under way over the weekend of 2nd March.
