Fundraising and Sponsorship Update
This weekend, dozens of club volunteers will help to manage the entry points at the Skerries 100 Road Races over four sessions on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July. We would still welcome a few more volunteers so contact Liz on 087 2430111 or any mentor if you can help. Our club will earn a commission on ticket sales at this high profile sporting event organised by the Loughshinny Motorcyle Supporters Club.
We will be running our annual All Ireland Final Golden Goal scratchcard fundraisier and will launch this in August. Fingers crossed that the Dubs will be in the final vying for “5 in a row”.
Don’t forget to drop your till receipt in the box in Moriarty’s Supervalu Balbriggan to have our club in with a chance to receive new football gear.
Thanks to Bobbie Owens and Bank of Ireland Mobile Mortgages for sponsoring a new set of match jerseys for our U13 Boys.
You may have noticed mounds of earth adjacent to our new pitch and bordering with Country Crest. The size of this area is deceptive to the eye and it is our intention to develop it into an additional training area over the coming year or so. Thanks to our friends in Country Crest who have helped to transfer and level the soil for us.
We are currently at the tenders stage for the works to develop the upstairs of the clubhouse.
We plan to take advantage of the good spell of weather and are looking for volunteers to assist with another general club clean up on Tuesday 9th July at 7pm, with some works carrying over to the morning of Saturday 13th if necessary. This will include strimming, spraying and other tasks. Give Dermot or Kevin a shout if you can help.
This summer some initial groundworks are taking place to prepare to upgrade the lights on the old pitch.
In terms of coaching development, thanks to Peter Dolan who hosted a “train the trainer” session with team mentors on Friday 28th June. Everyone agreed that it was hugely beneficial and more sessions are planned. We are hosting a Foundation Level coaching course on Tuesday 9th and 16th July in the clubhouse. It is almost full but contact David on 085 8625213 if you are interested.

Registrations are welcome right up to 8th August but we cannot guarantee their gear will arrive during the camp. Please register and pay in full online on
Don’t forget that club members can request tickets for Senior Dublin Men’s Championship games in Croke Park through the club. Contact Dermot on 087 1347656 at least one week in advance of any fixture. #COYBIB
Visitors to the Clubhouse: The Wexford U20s Men’s footballers have secured a place in the Leinster Championship semi-final against Dublin following their win over Louth on Tuesday 2nd July. What you may not have heard is that the Wexford team requested a stop off in the north county en route to their match in Drogheda and Man O’War GFC played host! Elsewhere, we were pleased to once again allow our facilities to be used by local schools. Hedgestown NS held their Sports Day on 7th June and ran a table quiz fundraiser on 13th June, while Balrothery NS hosted a lovely charity and remembrance event on 30th May and held their Sports Day on 14th June. Credit to Kevin Murphy who is a great host to everyone.

In AFL3, our Men’s 1st Team beat St Patrick’s Donabate and lost out to St Peregrine’s, St Margaret’s and Naomh Barróg. They play St Vincents at home this Saturday at 630pm. Unfortunately Rónan Mathews sustained a nasty injury in the Margaret’s match and we wish him a speedy recovery. Their Junior 1 Championship resumes in September. We await details of Cup competitions.
In AFL10, the Men’s 2nd Team are currently placed fourth following recent wins against Naomh Barróg and Lucan Sarsfields and a loss away against St Colmcille’s Swords. Their Junior 5 Championship resumes in September.
In the Division 3 Cup, our Ladies 1st Team are joined at the top of the table following recents wins against Scoil Uí Chonaill and St Peregrine’s, a loss to Ballyboden and a match conceded by Blessington. Their Division 3 league resumes in the autumn and they await details of their Junior A Championship semi-final.
The Ladies 2nd Team are joined 1st in Division 8, following a win against St James Gaels. With three fixtures gone, they have clocked up one draw against Erin’s Isle so far in their Cup campaign. We hope to see Debbie O’Mahoney (Levins) back in action soon after a nasty injury in the Na Fianna game. Their Junior G Championship season starts at home on 24th July against Beann Eadair.
John Bell is continuing to support our six club players who are playing Minor Men with Round Towers Lusk in Division 3 this season. They had a recent win against St Peter’s.
Our Minor Ladies are on their summer break.
Tuairscí agus Torthaí – Juvenile Teams
Our U16 Boys are now in a top of the league playoff in Division 4 with three teams drawn in first place. This follows a recent win against St Catherine’s. They will face Whitehall Colmcille’s at home on Thursday 11th June in the first playoff and support is welcome.
The U14 Boys have finished for the summer second in Division 8, following a win against St Vincent’s, draw against St Mark’s and a loss against Naomh Olaf. Their league will resume in September.
Our U13 Boys are cutting their teeth in a very competitive Division 4 league. They had a great win away against St Vincent’s and lost against Skerries Harps and St Maur’s. The league will resume after the summer break. It is great to see so many of the lads participating in Strength and Conditioning training at Balbriggan Rugby Club this summer – thanks to Ivan and the rugby club for including our boys.
The U12 Boys have made it 4 out of 4 and are joined at the top of Division 6 following recent wins against St Vincents, Ballymun Kickhams and St Peregrine’s.
Unfortunately our U15 Girls lost out in their Division 5 league semi-final against Ballyboden St Enda’s. They have just re-grouped and will participate in a Summer League organised by the Ladies county board, starting with a match away against St Margaret’s on 4th July.
With a win and two losses in Division 6 against Foxrock Cabinteely, Clanna Gael Fontenoy and St Sylvester’s, our U13 Girls were placed joined third in their league. They hope to have a summer blitz in the coming weeks.
At a non-competitive level, our U12 Girls and U10 Girls hosted blitzes at our club on Saturday 22nd June – well done to all the mentors and parents who made this day such a success. The U10 Girls also played Craobh Chiaráin. Our U10 Boys have played St Peter’s, Craobh Chiaráin and Round Towers Lusk. And our youngest team, the U8s Girls and Boys, have played Raheny and St Finian’s Swords.
