Notaí Chlub na Míosa: 31st March / 31ú Márta 2019
Our pitches are busy with training and matches for all teams. A huge thank you to Kevin Murphy and Dermot Sheridan who helped us get over the bad patch of weather and ensure that the pitches would be available and in good condition. Thanks to all teams for their cooperation.
There is lots of team news below. We would like to extend a huge Man O’War welcome to our new Ladies 1st team coach Willie Wogan, who hails from Ballyboughal GFC. We wish him every success in his new post.
We have put out a call for new members on our Fundraising Committee. It’s one of the more social ways to get involved in the club. They are working towards various targets that will benefit everyone in the club, including the development of the top floor of the clubhouse as well as installing fixtures and fittings around the grounds.
Our Fashion Show fundraiser will be held in the Bracken Court Hotel on Holy Thursday 18th April. The Ladies 2nd Team are leading this fundraiser but need everyone’s help. Ads are being sold for the colour brochure at a cost of €100 for a full page and €50 for a half page. We would also appreciate individual spot prizes or prizes for hampers. The show will feature fashions from local shops and there is still time to volunteer as a model for the event. There will also be a €100 cash prize for the best dressed guest at the event! The doors will open at 7.30pm to guarantee the best seats in the house. Tickets for the event cost €15 and will be available from team mentors and the Ladies Team. To purchase an ad, donate a prize or buy a ticket, contact Bernice on 086 8242119 or email Catherine on email@example.com
Elsewhere in fundraising, we were delighted to learn that Man O’War had a winner in the GAA’s National Club Draw. Congratulations to Eamonn Mulligan who won the 10th prize of an All Ireland Final Hurling Package.
Thank you to everyone who returned their annual membership fees and signed consents on their membership forms. There are still some outstanding. All of the details can be found on the club website and there are forms available inside the clubhouse entrance.
The Juvenile section did us proud at the St Patrick’s Day parade in Balbriggan. Bernice Jones Moore commissioned a replica, miniature clubhouse from Stefan and the team at Retinks Graphics and it was a great centrepiece. Thanks to everyone who turned out on the day and roared for the War in club colours.
During Seachtain na Gaeilge, many teams got behind the club and the GAA’s target to promote the Irish language. A selection of short media clips with teams having fun speaking a cúpla focail can be found on our club Facebook. We have bilingual signs around the club and use a little Irish in our club communications. Our Irish Officer is Emma McGlynn and she will build on our progress to date.
Don’t forget that Man O’War has a section on the O’Neill’s online shop where you can buy club gear. Club members can now avail of a 15% discount if they register as an online customer. The club will earn loyalty points for every purchase. Visit the Online Shop tab on our club website for more details.
Online registration is now open for our Easter Skills and Drills Camp from Tuesday 23rd to Thursday 25th April 10am to 1pm daily for Nursery to U14s. It costs €30 for members and €40 for non-members. Please register online on our club website.
In terms of Child Protection, our Chairperson Damien Duffy is our new Designated Liaison Person. Our Children’s Officer, Alice Sheridan, has been meeting with all our teenage teams. Our club has adopted the GAA’s guidelines for safer, ‘phone free’ changing rooms at training and matches. Teams are also discussing responsible use of social media.
In Dublin news, Ailene Fanning continues to represent us at Ladies Minor level, while Conor Dolan is playing on the U16 Boys team.
Club members are reminded that they can purchase tickets for Senior Dublin games in Croke Park through the club. Contact Dermot on 087 1347656 at least one week in advance of any fixture.
We are delighted to accommodate schools matches once again, and club players and local children from Balrothery NS, Hedgestown NS, Milverton NS and Corduff NS have used our facilities in recent weeks.
